Desires of men, women observing this Vrat, are fulfilled immediately. But if the desires are not fulfilled, one should go on observing the Vrat at the interval of three months. Then the fulfillment of desires is going to be achieved definitely.

One should look at the "Shree Yantra " the Amulet of Goddess Laxmi uttering Salutation (homage) to the "Amulet of Goddess Laxmi " (the photograph is given in this text). One should bow down one’s head to it and then apply one’s hands to one’s own eyes.

Then one should bow down one’s head to the photographs of the eight incarnations of Goddess Laxmiji, and touch with hands to one’s eyes. The incarnations of Goddess Laxmiji are as follows:
Dhan Laxmi or the incarnation of Vaibhava Laxmi
Shri Gaja Laxmi Goddess.
Shri Adhi Laxmi Goddess.
Shri ViJaia Laxmi Goddess.
Shri Aishvarya Laxmi Goddess.
Shree Veera Laxmi Goddess.
Shri Dhanya Laxmi Goddess.

Then one should recite the following hymn or praise of Goddess Laxmi.
Rules of the vrath:-

[1] If married women observe this Vrat, they achieve the award. If there is no married woman in the family, any woman or unmarried girl can observe this Vrat.

[2] If a man observes this Vrat instead of a woman, he also achieves the award in the same way.

[3] One should observe this Vrat with full faith and pious conception, not by dislike or without intense desire.

[4] Vrat should be observed according to the rites prescribed by Shashtras for eleven or twenty-one Friday as per one’s oath. It should be celebrated according to Shashtras performing proper ceremonies after the observance of Vrat on Friday as decided at the time of the oath. This ceremony is very simple to be preformed. If the Vrat is not observed according to proper ceremony described by the Shastras, one does not achieve its award or fruit.

[5] After having once observed the Vrat, it can be observed again taking the oath devotedly.

[6] Goddess Laxmiji has innumerable incarnations. Among all, ‘Shri Yantra’ Amulet of Goddess Laxmi is very beloved to her. Her incarnation of Dhan Laxmi itself is Vaibhava Laxmi. One should bow down one’s head to each and every incarnation of Goddess Laxmi given above. And also, while observing the Vrat one should pay homage to Shri Yantra. Then only it is fulfilled. If one doesn’t want to take the least trouble to observe Vrat, Goddess Laxmi also doesn’t take any trouble for her or him and she doesn’t show any mercy to such person.

[7] On the day of observance of the Vrat, from morning one should utter ‘Jai Goddess Laxmi’ or ‘Jai Ma Laxmi’ at heart as many times as possible.

[8] If one has to go on tour or outside the residence on Friday, one should observe the Vrat the next Friday at one’s residence only. One should observe the Vrat for as many Friday as decided by oneself at the time of oath.

[10] At the time of the celebration of the Vrat one should give the book ‘Vaibhava Laxmi Vrat’ to seven, eleven, twenty-one, fifty one or hundred and one women according to one’s own desire. (Goddess Laxmi would bless you more if you give more books as gifts to more women, and the Vrat of Goddess Laxmiji would spread more and more.

[11] If the woman is in menses or having ceremonial defilement and consequent untouchability owing to death in the family on the Friday, one should observe the Vrat the following Friday. And at the end, one should observe the Vrat for as many Friday as decided at the time of oath.

[12] In the beginning of observing the Vrat, one should recite once the hymn or praise the Goddess Laxmi.

[13] One should be on fast on the day of observing the Vrat on Friday, and should eat the sweet dish offered to Goddess Laxmiji. One may eat fruits or take meals once a day. The weak persons may observe the Vrat having food twice a day. The important thing is that one should have full faith and devotion in Laxmiji that Goddess would certainly fulfill the desire. Most important point to note is one doing the Vaibhav Lakshmi vrat should do it with full faith, and emotion. Confidently pray taking an oath that Mother will fulfill my desire.

Story of the Vrath:-

Many years ago there was a very big city. Lakhs of people lived there. In ancient times, people really lived the happy social life. They used to meet and sit together and enjoyed themselves. In those days, people used to lead the life completely in different way. People of this city were totally busy engaged in their own personal worldly affairs. The elements of holy devotion, benevolence, sympathy and affection all these virtues were rarely visible in the cultural life of the society. Innumerable vices had spread in the daily-life of the citizens living in that city. Wine and gambling, race and speculation, illegal relations and various guilty misdeeds were done by the people living in that city.ac

There is always a silver line hidden among the black clouds in the sky. The lightning of the eternal hope spreads into the thousands of dark clouds of disappointments. Inspite of so many vices prevailing in the social life some pious people lived the virtuous life like the lotus in the muddy water of the pond. Among all the virtuous people, Sheela and her husband also lived pious worldly life. Sheela was of religious nature living the contented life. Her husband was a humble fellow having good character.

Sheela and her husband lived honestly. They never abused or displeased anyone. They were happy to utilize their time in worshipping God. Their worldly life was ideal and people never got tired while praising them.

Thus she had been passing her life happily. It is said that the end of the misdeeds is quite strange. Who could read the words of fate written by the Goddess of Fortune? A king becomes a poor man, and a poor man becomes a king. By the destiny, in just a moment, such a great change can be done. As a result of misdeeds done, Sheela’s husband got the company of bad friends. It is said that the man is influenced by the company he keeps. Due to the influence of the company of bad friends, Sheela’s husband dreamed to be one of the wealthiest people gaining crores of rupees. As a result he misled his life and became as good as a beggar instead of becoming the wealthy person. He followed evil ways of immorality and began to ruin his life. He indulged in drinking wine, gambling, and race, speculation that had spread in the city-life. His friends were also on the same immoral path. He began to waste his money in the way of immorality. And at last he lost all the savings and also the ornaments of his wife. Once there was a golden time when he was passing his life happily with his wife and they were utilizing the time in worshiping God. Now there was a great change in their life. They became so poor that they could not get food to satisfy their hunger. Moreover Sheela had to suffer much due to the abusive language of her husband.

Sheela was a polite and well-cultured woman. She had suffered a lot because of her husband’s misbehavior. But keeping faith in God she began o bear the sufferings of unhappy life. Unhappiness is followed by happiness and happiness is followed by unhappiness in this worldly life. That is the eternal truth. Having faith in the eternal truth of the happiness and unhappiness, Sheela forgot herself in praying and worshipping God, she was hopeful for future happy life. While she had been passing her unhappy time of her life, one day at noontime someone came knocking at her door. She began to think, ‘who would have come to my place as I am so poor and have nothing with me?’ Still however, inspired by Aryan religious culture of welcoming the guests at the door, she stood up and opened the doors of her house.

To her wonder, she saw an old woman standing in front of her. She was a very old woman. Her face was dazzling with the glow of divine light. Her eyes were dripping with the glow of divine light. Her eyes were dripping the nectar of love. Her majestic face was overflowing with the compassion and love. Sheela experienced immense peace in her heart though she was not acquainted with her. She was full of delight. She welcomes her and gave her the only torn mat and requested her to sit with hesitation. The old lady said, ‘Sheela! Don’t you know me?’

Sheela humbly said, ‘Mother, I feel delightful to see you and experience peace in the soul, as if I have been searching you for a long time, but it seems that you are not known to me!’

With a smile the old lady said, ‘why! Did you forget me? Every Friday I used to come to the temple of Goddess Laxmiji, when there had been singing praise of the Goddess. There we happened to meet each other!’

Sheela was full of sorrow, as her husband had gone to the immoral way of life. She had stopped going to the temple of Goddess Laxmiji. She felt ashamed to get associated with others. She tried much to recollect the memory of that old lady. But she was not successful.

After a while, the old lady said to Sheela, ‘How sweet you had been singing prayer of Goddess Laxmiji in the temple amidst the devotees! Now days you are not seen there. Hence I have begun to think the reason for it. At last I have come to see you’. Hearing the kind words of the old lady, Sheela’s heart moved and her eyes were full of tears. She began to sob painfully. The old lady moved near her and began to console her striking lightly on her back with love.

The old lady said to Sheela, ‘My dear, happiness and sorrow are like the heat and shadow of the Sun. Happiness and misery come one after the other. Please have patience and tell me all about your sufferings. You will feel exempted from your pains, and will get the remedy for the same’.

Hearing the consoling words of the lady, Sheela’s heart felt peace and comfort. She said to her, ‘We were very happy in our life and enjoyed ourselves with the bliss in our heart. My husband was also having a good character. By the grace of God, we wee pleased with our financial position. We used to utilize our time in worshipping God. But by our ill luck, my husband was influenced by his bad company. At last he ruined the life by going on the path of immorality: drinking wine, speculation, gambling, race, intoxicating drugs etc. As a result we have become as good as beggars of the footpath’.

The old lady said, ‘Dear, happiness and sorrow come one after the other. Moreover the end of the misdeeds is strange. Every man has to suffer the consequences of his good or bad deeds. Now don’t get worried. You have already suffered all the consequences of your husband’s misdeeds. Now, you will have happy days of your life. You are the devotee of Goddess Laxmiji. Goddess Laxmiji is the incarnation of love and compassion. She is very merciful to her devotees. Hence, have patience and observe the Vrat of the Goddess Laxmiji and your life will be quite easy-going.’

Having heard about the observance of the Vrat of divine Goddess Laxmiji, Sheela’s face glittered with light. She said to the old lady, ‘Mother! Kindly tell me how the Vrat of Laxmiji can be observed. I will certainly observe it.’

The old lady said, ‘The Vrat of Laxmiji is very easy to follow. It is called the ‘Vaibhava Laxmi Vrat’ (Vrat giving wealth) or ‘Vaibhava Laxmi Vrat’ (Vrat giving Luxury). All the hopes of the person who observes the Vrat, will get fulfilled, and she or he becomes happy, wealthy and reputed’. Then she began to describe how to perform the Vrat.

‘Dear, this Vrat is very simple and easy to observe. Many people observe this Vrat by the improper method. Hence they don’t have good result. People believe that the Vrat can be observed only by applying yellow and red turmeric to golden ornaments. But it is not so. Vrat should be performed with proper ceremony according to the religious scriptures or shastras. Then only the observance of the Vrat becomes fruitful. The celebration of the Vrat also should be performed as prescribed by the shastras with proper ceremony’.

‘The Vrat should be observed on Friday every week. One should put on clean clothes after taking bath and should utter silently ‘Jai Ma Laxmi’. One should not speak evil of others. Having washed hands and feet in the evening, one should sit on the wooden seat facing the east direction. One should put a big wooden seat, and then one should put a copper pot on the small heaps of rice arranged on the handkerchief spread on the wooden seat. One should keep gold or a silver ornament or a rupee coin in a small bowl placed on the copper pot. One should light the lamp-stand and the incense stick near the wooden seat."

"There are many incarnations of Goddess Laxmi." A person observing the Vrat of Vaibhava Laxmi should devotedly see ‘Shree mystical diagram’ and various complexions or forms of goddess Laxmiji. Then one should sing the prayer of Laxmiji. Afterwards one should apply the ornament or a rupee-coin with the yellow and red turmeric and rice-grain. Then after adorning it with a red flower, one should wave lights keeping sweets or piece of jaggery and should utter ‘Jai Ma Laxmi’. After the rituals one should offer the prasad among the members of the family. That ornament or a rupee-coin should be put to the safe place. The water kept in the copper-bowl should be poured into the pot of basil-plant [tulasi] and the rice grain should be thrown to the birds. In this way one gets his or her desires fulfilled by observing the Vrat according to the prescribed ceremony of the shastras. A Man gets wealthy by the grace of Goddess Laxmiji. An unmarried girl gets married. The married woman maintains the happy state of wifehood and a childless woman gets a child by the influence of observance of the Vrat.

Sheela was pleased to know about the observance of the Vrat from that old lady. She said to her, ‘Mother! You have shown me the ceremony of the Vrat. Now I will surely observe it. But please, tell me how long this Vrat should be done and how it should be celebrated’. The old lady said, ‘People say that this Vrat can be done in one’s own way. But it is not so. This Vaibhava Laxmi Vrat should be done for eleven or twenty-one Friday. On the last Friday, the Vrat should be celebrated offering a coconut and sweet dish of rice. Then on that day the sweets should be given to seven unmarried girls or ladies, and saying…’Jai Ma Vaibhava Laxmi’ they should be given a book of ‘Vaibhava Laxmi Vrat’. Afterwards you should bow down your head to the photograph of Goddess Dhanlaxmi and should pray in the heart! Mother! I have observed the Vaibhava Laxmi Vrat. Please fulfill all our wishes! Kindly give wealth to the poor and give children to the childless woman. Let the married woman enjoy the happy state of wifehood. Let the unmarried girl fulfill her desires. Please have grace on those who observe your Vrat and be kind to them by favoring happiness in their lives’. By praying in this manner, bow down your head to the Dhan Laxmi, incarnation of the Goddess Laxmiji and Keep your hand above (not to touch) the flames of the lamp and apply it to your eyes’. Hearing the ceremony for the observation of Vaibhava Laxmi Vrat, she closed her eyes and decided in her mind to do the Vrat with full faith according to shastras for twenty-one Friday and to celebrate the same with ceremony. When Sheela opened the eyes, she was very much surprised to know that the old lady had disappeared! That old lady was no one else but Laxmiji Herself! As Sheela was the devoted worshipper, Goddess Laxmiji Herself had come in the form of an old lady to show Sheela the path of happiness.

On the very next day it was Friday. After taking bath Sheela began to utter, ‘Jai Ma Laxmi’ with full faith in the Goddess Laxmi. During the day she didn’t defame any one. In the evening having washed her hands and feet, Sheela placed the wooden seat. She put her nose-ornament in the small bowl placed on the copper pot, which was on the heaps of rice arranged on the handkerchief spread on the wooden seat. Sitting in the east, Sheela observed the Vaibhava Laxmi Vrat with proper ceremony as informed by that old lady. Then she offered some sugar to her husband. Immediately there was a great change in her husband’s nature. As usual her husband did not beat her! She was very much happy to see such miraculous change in husband. Then after observing the Vrat with devotion and faith for twenty-one Friday. Sheela celebrated the last Friday. She gave a book of Vaibhava Laxmi Vrat to seven ladies and bowing down her head to the photograph of Goddess Laxmiji, prayed: ‘Mother! I have finished observance of the Vrat today. Kindly fulfill the desires of the unmarried girls and return the happiness of those who observe the Vrat. Be merciful to bless us with bliss of life uttering, "Give wealth to the poor, a child to the childless woman and preserve the happiness of the married woman. Kindly fulfill the desires." Uttering these words, Sheela kept her hands above the flames of the lamp and applied her hands to her eyes and paid homage to the Goddess. In this way, Sheela could get the result as she had observed the Vrat according to the prescribed ceremony of the shastras. Her husband gave up the immoral way of life and began to earn with great efforts. With the pious power of the Goddess, her husband became wealthy. He got back the ornaments of Sheela mortgaged by him. Hence forward he became a noble man and Sheela regained the peace and happiness in her life as before.

Having seen the pious power of the Vaibhava Laxmi Vrat, other women of the street began to perform the Vrat according to ceremony described by the shastras.

Oh! Goddess Dhan Laxmi! Be merciful to all, as you had been to Sheela. Fulfill the desires of all. Bless all with peace and bliss.

Shri Satyanarayan Vrat Katha :-

Pahla Adhyaya :- Ek Samay Nem Sharanya Tirth mein Saunik Adi Athaasi Hazaar Rishyo ne Shri Sutji se poocha –”Hey Prabhu, Is Kalyug mein Vaid-Vidya rahit manushyo ko prabhu bhakti kis prakar milaygi tatha unka udhar kaisey hoga? Isliye hey muni shreshta, koi aisa tap kahiye jis se thodey samay mein punya prapt ho tatha mano vanchit fal miley.”
Sarvashastra ghyata Shri Sutji boley, “Hey Vaishnavo mein pujya - aap sab ne sarva praniyo ke hit ki baat poochi hai. Ab mein us shreshta vrat ko aap logo mein kahoonga, jis vrat ko Narad ji ne LakshmiNarayan se poocha tha aur Shri LakshmiPati ne Muni Shreshta Narad se kaha tha –so dhyan se suniye.
Ek samay, Yogiraj Narad ji doosro ke hit ki ichcha se, anek lokon mein ghoomtey huey mrityulok mein aa pahunchey. Vahan bahut yoniyon mein janmey huey praya sabhi manushyon ko apne karmo ke dwara anek dukho se peedit dhek kar kis yatna ke karney se nischay hi inkey dukho ka nash ho sakega, aisa man mein sochkar Vishnulok ko gaye. Vahan shwet varna aur char bhujaon wale devon ke eersh Narayan ko (jinkey haaton mein shanka, chakra, gada aur padma they, tatha vanmala pahney huey they) dekhkar stuti karney lagey. “Hey Bhagwan, aap atyant shakti se samparn hai. Man tatha vani bhi aapko nahi pa sakti, aapka aadi, madhya aur ant nahin hai, nirgun swaroop shrishti ke aadi bhoot va bhakto ke dukho ko nasht karney wale hai. Aapko mera namaskar hai.”
Naradji se is prakaar stuti sunkar Vishnu Bhagwan boley ki “Hey Munishreshta - Aapke man mein kya hai? Aapka yahan kis kaam ke liye aagman hua hai? Nisankoj kaho.” Tab Naradmuni boley, “Mrityu lok mein sab manushya jo anek yoniyo mein paida huey hai, apne apne karmo ke dwara anek prakaar ke dukho se dukhi ho rahey hai. Hey Nath muj par daya rakhtey hai to batlaeay ki un manushyo ke sab dukh thodey se hi prayatna se kaisey door ho saktey hai?” Shri Vishnu Bhagwanji boley ki “Hey Narad, Manushyo ki bhalai ke liye tumne yeh bahut achchi baat poochi. Jis kaam ke karney se manushya moh se choot jaata hai, vah mein kehta hoo suno. Bahut punya ka deney wala, swarg tatha manushya lok dono mein durlab ek vrat hai. Aaj mein premvash hokar tumse kehta hoo. Shri Satyanarayanji ka vrat achchi tarah vidhan purvak karke manushya turant hi yahan sukh bhogkar marne par moksh ko prapt hota hai.”
Shri Vishnu Bhagwan ke vachan sunkar Narad ji ne poocha ki us vrat ka kya fal hai, kya vidhan hai, aur kisne yeh vrat kiya hai aur kis din yeh vrat karna chahiye, kripa karke vistaar se bataiye. Shri Vishnu Bhagwan boley, “Dukh shok aadi ko door karne wala, dhan dhanya ko badane wala, saubhagya tatha santaan ko dene wala, sab sthano par vijaye karne wala, Shri Satyanarayan Swami hai. Bhakti aur shradha ke saat kisi bhi din, manushya Shri Satyanarayan ki sham ke samay, Brahmano aur bandhuo ke saath dharmaparayan hokar puja karey, bhakti bhav se savaya prasad de. Doosra Adhyaya:-

Sutji boley “Hey Rishyo! Jisne pehle samay mein is vrat ko kiya hai uska itihaas kehta hoo, dhyan se suno.” Sunder Kashipuri nagari mein ek ati nirdhan Brahman rehta tha. Hey shreshta Brahman! Yeh sab mujse kaho, mein sunana chahata hoo.” Brahman bola “Mein nirdhan Brahman hoo, biksha ke liye prithvi par firta hoo. Hey Bhagwan, yadi aap iska upaya jaante ho to kripa karke batao.” Vridh Brahman bola ki Satyanarayan Bhagwan manovanchit fal ko dene wala hai. Isliye hey Brahman tu unka pujan kar, jiske karne se manushya sab dukho se mukt hota hai. Yeh nischay karne par usey raat mein neend bhi nahi aayi. Vah saverey utha. Shri Satyanarayan ke vrat ke nischay kar biksha ke liye chala. Us samay se vah Brahman har maas vrat karne laga. Is tarah Satyanarayan Bhagwan ke is vrat ko jo karega vah sab papo se chutkar mauksh ko prapt hoga. Aagey jo prithvi par Satyanarayan vrat karega, vah manushya sab dukho se chut jayega. Is tarah Naradji ne Shri Narayan ka kaha hua yeh vrat tumse kaha. Hey Vipro! Mein ab aur kya kahu? Rishi boley “Hey Munishwaro! Sansar mein is Brahman se sunkar kis kis ne is vrat ko kiya, hum vah sab sunana chahatey hain. Iske liye humarey man mein shradha hai. Sutji boley “Hey Muniyo! Jis Jisne us vrat ko kiya hai vah sab suno. Ek samay vah Brahman, dhan aur aishwarya ke anusaar bandhu-baandhavo ke saath vrat karne ko tayar hua. Usi samay ek lakdi bechney wala ek buda aaya aur bahar lakadiyo ko rakhkar Brahman ke makan mein gaya. Pyaas se dukhi lakadharey ne Brahman ko vrat kartey dekhkar namaskar karkey poochney laga ki aap yeh kya kar rahey hai aur iskey karney se kya fal milta hai? Kripa karkey mujse kahiye. Brahman ne kaha, “Sab manokamnao ko poora karne wala, yeh Satyanarayan ka vrat hai. Iski hi kripa se mere yahan dhan-dhanya aadi ki vridhi hui hai.” Brahman se is vrat ke barey mein jaankar lakadhara bahut prasan hua. Charnamrit lekar aur prasad khaney ke baad, apne ghar ko gaya.
Lakadharey ne man mein is prakaar ka sankalp kiya ki aaj gram mein lakdi bechney se jo dhan mujhe milega usi se Shri Satyanarayan Bhagwan ka uttam mein vrat karoonga. Yeh man mein vichar kar, budha lakadhara lakadiya sar par rakhkar Sundernagar mein gaya. Tab budha lakadhara daam lekar aur ati prasan hokar pakkey kele ki fali, shakar, ghee aur dahi, gehu ka chun ityadi Satyanarayan Bhagwan ki vrat ki kul samagriyo ko lekar apne ghar gaya. Phir usne apne sab bhaiyo ko bulakar vidhi ke saath Bhagwan ji ka pujan aur vrat kiya. Us vrat ke prabhav se budha lakadhara dhan, putra, aadi se yukt hua aur sansar ke samast sukh bhogkar vaikunth ko chala gaya.

Teesra Adhyaya :-

Sutji bole, “Hey shresta muniyo! Ab aagey ki katha kehta hoo- suno. Pehle samay mein Ulkamukh naam ka ek budhimaan raja tha. Vah satyavakta aur jeetendra tha. Pratidin dev sthano mein jaata tatha garibo ko dhan dekar unkey kasht door karta tha. Uski patni kamal ke samaan mukh wali aur sati sadhvi thi. Badrashila nadi ke tath par un dono ne Satyanarayan Bhagwan ka vrat kiya. Usi samay mein vahan ek sadhu vaishya aaya. uske paas vyapaar ke liye bahut sa dhan tha. Nav ko kinarey par thehra kar raja ke paas gaya aur raja ko vrat kartey huey dekh kar vinay ke saath poochney laga–Hey rajan! Bhaktiyukt chit se aap kya kar rahey hai? Meri bhi sunaney ki ichcha hai. Yeh aap mujhe bataea.
Raja bola “Hey Sadhu! Apne baandhavo ke saath putradi ke prapti ke liye Mahashaktivaan Satyanarayan Bhagwan ka vrat va pujan kiya ja raha hai.
Raja ke vachan sunkar Sadhu aadar ke saath bola, “Hey rajan! Mujko iska sabh vidhan kahiye, mein bhi aapke katha anusar is vrat ko karoonga. Meri bhi koi santaan nahi hai aur is se nischay hi hogi. Raja se sabh vidhan sunkar, vyapaar se nivrit hokar, aanand ke saath ghar gaya. Sadhu ne apni stri se santaan dene wale us vrat ka samachar sunaya aur kaha ki jab meri santaan hogi tab mein is vrat ko karoonga. Sadhu ne aise vachan apni stri Lilawanti ko kahey. Kuch samay baad, Lilawanti garbawati hui tatha dasve mahiney mein uske ek sunder kanya ka janam hua jiska naam Kalawanti rakha gaya. Tab Lilawanti ne meethe shabdo mein apne pati se kaha ki aapne jo sankalp kiya hua tha ki Bhagwan ka vrat karoonga, ab aap usey kariye. Sadhu bole, Hey priya! Iske vivah par karoonga. Apni patni ko aashvaasan dekar voh nagar ko gaya. Kalawanti pitragrah mein vridhi ko prapt ho gayi. Sadhu ne jab nagar mein sakhiyo ke saath apni putri ko dekha to turant hi doot ko bulakar kaha ki putri ke vastey koi suyogya var dekh kar laao. Sadhu ki aagya paakar doot Kanchan Nagar pahuncha aur vahan par badi khoj kar aur dekhbhaal kar ladki ke vaastey suyogya vanik putra ko le aaya. Us suyogya ladke ko dekh kar, Sadhu ne apne bhai-bandhuo sahit prasan-chit apni putri ka vivah uske saath kar diya. Kintu, durbhagya se vivah ke samay bhi us vrat ko karna bhool gaya. Tab Shri Bhagwan krodhit ho gaye aur usey shrap diya ki voh daarun dukh prapt hoga.
Apne kaam mein kushal sadhu baniya apne jaamata sahit samudra ke samip Ratanpur nagar pahuncha. Aur vahan dono sasur jamai, Chandraketu Raja ke nagar mein pahunche aur vyapaar karney lagey. Ek roz, Bhagwan Satyanarayan ki maya se prerit koi chor raja ka dhan churakar sheegra ja raha tha kintu peechey se raja ke dooton ko aatey dekh kar, chor ne ghabrakar bhaagtey-bhaagtey dhan ko vahin chup-chap rakh diya jahan vah dono sasur jamai thehrey huey they. Dooton ne us sadhu vaishya ke paas raja ke dhan ko rakha dekh kar dono ko baandhkar le gaye aur prasanta se daudtey huey raja ke samip jaakey boley, “Yeh do chor hum pakad kar laye hai, dekh kar agya de.” Vahan usne Satyanarayan vrat hotey dekha. Vahan usne katha suni aur prasad grahan kar raat ko ghar aayi. Mata ne Kalawanti se kaha, “Hey putri! Din mein kahan rahi va tere man mein kya hai?” Kalawanti boli, “Hey mata! maine ek Brahman ke ghar Satyanarayan ka vrat dekha.” Satyanarayan Bhagwan is vrat se santusht ho gaye aur Raja Chandraketu ko swapna mein dekhayee diye aur kaha ki “Hey rajan! Dono bandhi vaishyon ko prat hi chod do aur unka sab dhan jo tumne grahan kiya hai de do nahi to tera dhan, rajya, putradi sab nasht kar doonga.” Raja ko aisa vachan sunakar Bhagwan antardhyan ho gaya. Prat-Kaal Raja Chandraketu ne sabha mein apna swapna sunaya aur dono vanik putro ko kaid se mukt kar sabha mein bulaya. Dono ne aatey hi Raja ko namaskar kiya. Raja meethey vachno se boley, “Hey Mahanubhavo! Bhagyavash aisa katheen dukh prapt hua hai, ab koi bhay nahi hai.” Aisa kahkar Raja ne unko naye-naye vastrabushan pehnaye tatha unka jitna dhan liya tha us se duna dhan dilvakar vida kiya. Dono vaishya apne ghar ko chal diye.

Chautha Adhyaya :-

Dandi ke jaaney par vaishya ne nitya kriya karne ke baad naav ko oonchi uthi dekh achamba kiya tatha naav mein bel patradi dekh murchit ho gir pada. Phir murcha khulney par bahut shok karne laga. Tab uska daamaad bola ki aap shok na karey, yeh dandi ka shrap hai. Aapko sharan mein chalna chahiye tabhi hamari manokamna poori hogi. Damad ke vachan sunkar vah dandi ke paas pahuncha. Bhakti bhav se namaskar kar bola, “Maine jo aap se asatya vachan kahey they us ko shama karo, aisa kahkar vah mahan shokatur ho roney lagey. Dandi Bhagwan boley, “Hey vanik putra! Meri aagya se tumhe baar-baar dukh prapt hua hai. Tu meri puja se vimukh hua hai.” Sadhu bola, “Hey Bhagwan! Aapki maya se mohit gyani aapke roop ko nahi jaantey, tab mein agyani kaise jaan loo? Aap prasan hoiay, mein saamarth ke anusaar aapki puja karoonga. Meri raksha karo aur pehle ke samaan, nauka mein dhan bhar do.” Un dono ke bhaktiyukt vachan sunkar Bhagwan prasan ho gaye. Uski ichanusar var dekar antardhyan ho gaye. Tab unho ne naav par aakar dekha ki naav dhan se paripurn hai. Phir vah Bhagwan Satyanarayan ka pujan kar saathiyo sahit apne nagar ko chala. jab vah apne nagar ke nikat pahuncha tab doot ko ghar bheja. Doot ne sadhu ke ghar jakar, uske stri ko namaskar karke kaha ki sadhu apne daamaad sahit is nagar ke samip aa gaye hai. Aisa vachan sunkar Lilawanti ne bade harsh ke saath Bhagwan Satyanarayan ka pujan kar putri se kaha mein apne pati ke darshano ko jaati hoo, tu karya purna karke sheegra aana. Mata ke vachan sunkar Kalawanti prasad chhodkar pati ke paas gaye. Prasad ki avagya ke karan Bhagwan Satyanarayan ne rusht hokar uske pati ko naav sahit pani mein duba diya. Kalawanti apne pati ko na dekhkar roti hui zameen par gir gayi. Is tarah naav ko dooba hua tatha kanya ko rota dekh sadhu dukhit ho bola, “Hey Prabhu! Mujse ya mere parivar se jo bhool hui usey shama karo. Uske deen vachan sunkar Bhagwan Satyanarayan prasan ho gaye aur aakashvani hui. “Hey Sadhu! Teri kanya mere prasad ko chhodkar aayi hai, isliye iska pati adrishya hua hai. Yadi woh ghar jaakar prasad khaakar lautey to isey pati avashya milega. Aakashwani se aisa sunkar, Kalawanti ne ghar pahunchkar prasad khaaya. Phir us ne aakar pati ke darshan kiye, tab vaishya parivar ke sab log prasan huey. Phir sadhu ne baandhavo sahit Bhagwan Satyanarayan ka vidhi poorvak pujan kiya. Us din se har purnima va sankrant ko Bhagwan Satyanarayan ka pujan karne laga. Phir is lok ka sukh bhogkar swarg ko chala gaya.

Paanchva Adhyaya :-

Sutji boley, “Hey Rishyo! Mein aur bhi katha kehta hoo, suno. Praja palan mein leen, Tungadhwaj naam ka raja tha. Usne bhi Bhagwan ka prasad tyag kar bahut dookh paaya. Ek samay, vanmein ja karke pashuo ko maarkar bud ke ped ke neechey aaya. Us ne bhaktibhav se gwalo ko baandhavo sahit Bhagwan Satyanarayan ka pujan karte dekha. Raja dekhkar bhi, abhimaan vash na vahan gaya, na namaskar kiya. Jab gwalo ne Bhagwan ka us ke saamne prasad rakha, to vah prasad ko tyag kar apni sunder nagri ko chala gaya. Vahan us ne apna sab kuch nasht paaya. To vah samaj gaya ki yeh sabh kuch prasad ke niradhar ke vajai se hua hai. Tab vah, vishwas kar gwalo ke samip gaya aur vidhi poorvak pujan kar prasad khaaya. Bhagwan Satyanarayan ki kripa se sab jaisa tha vaisa hi ho gaya. Tatha sukh bhogkar marne par swarg lok mein gaya. Jo manushya is param durlab vrat ko karega, Bhagwan ki kripa se usey dhan dhanya ki prapti hogi. Nirdhan dhani hota hai. Bandhi bandhan se mukt hokar nirbhay ho jaata hai. Santaanheeno ko santaan prapt hoti hai. Sab manorath purna hokar ant mein vaikunth dham ko jaata hai. Jinhonay, pehle is vrat ko kiya hai, uske doosrey janam ki katha kehta hoo. Vridh Shatanand Brahman ne Sudama ka janam lekar mauksh paaya. Ulkamukh naam ka raja Dashrath hokar vaikunth ko prapt hua. Sadhu naam ke vaishya ne Mordhwaj bankar apne putra ko aare se cheerkar moksh prapt kiya. Maharaj Tungadhwaj ne swayam-bhu hokar Bhagwan ke bhaktyukt karm kar moksh ko prapt kiya.

!! Karwa Chauth !!

Karwa Chauth:-

The fast of Karwa Chauth is kept 9 days before Diwali. It falls on the fourth day of the Kartik month by the Hindu calendar (fourth day of the waning moon or the dark fortnight). Karwa Chauth is considered one of the most important fasts observed by the married Hindu women. On this day the women pray for the welfare and long life of their husbands. It is the most important and difficult fast observed by married Hindu women. It begins before sunrise and ends only after offering prayers and worshipping the moon at night.

According to a belief, on this day God Yama, at the lamentations and impressive arguing of Savitri, Sateyvan’s wife restored Sateyvan, who had died at an early age, to life.
In some places, Siva and Parvati are worshipped on this day. The only aim of this fast is to save the husband from an untimely death and have a long married life. After ablution and other daily necessities, and after taking bath in the early morning, before sunrise, women should undertake a vow for the welfare of the husband, sons, and grandsons. Siva, Parvati, Kartikeya, Ganesha and the moon (Chandrama) are worshipped. Their blessings are invoked. After worship, rice, black gram pulse auspicious articles viz. comb, mirror, vermilion, bangles, ribbon, etc. are put on a copper plate or on an earthen plate, along with fruits and kept ready till the fast is broken, after seeing the moon. The fast is to be observed without even taking water.
In a legend in the Maharashtra, once Arjun went for worship in Nilgiri Hills. Drupadi, believing that there was none to protect her in the horror-stricken forest, invoked Krishna. On the appearance of Krishna, Drupadi explained her problem. Krishna explained that once Parvati had expressed such a suspicion before Shiva.
The latter had then said that for a housewife, the fast on Kartik Krishna Chaturthi was a remedy for such apprehensions. Krishna further told Drupadi that once upon a time, there was a Brahmin, who had seven sons and one daughter. Being the only daughter she was married with great pomp and show. On the Karva Chauth day, she undertook the fast, but before the rise of the moon she felt hungry.
Seeing the pathetic condition of their only sister, the loving brothers asked her to break the fast, but she did not agree. Then the brothers reflected a mirror through Pipal tree leaves. The sister, mistook it as moonrise, broke the fast and took food. Surprisingly, her husband died. The daughter started crying. Per chance, Indrani, the sister of Indra, was passing by with her maids. Hearing the cries, she came to the weeping woman and asked her tale of woo. Then she advised that she should undertake the fast on every fourth day of the month, for one year and undertake the Karva Chauth fast under strict rituals, then only her husband would come to life. Doing so, the daughter brought back to life her husband. Narrating this story, Krishna consoled Drupadi and advised her to observe Karva Chauth fast and assured her about the ultimate victory of Pandavas.

Introduction Legend Ritual

The Karwa Chauth Rituals and Festivities :

On the day of Karva Chauth married women wake up before dawn. They take bath and invoke blessings of Goddess Parvati for their husband's long life. Women are then given a sumptuous meal called 'Sargi' by mother-in-law to eat before sunrise, as the fast starts before sunrise and ends only after worshiping the moon at night. It is a tough fast, as after the Sargi women are not supposed to take any form of food or liquid. In the day, the married woman receives the baya or a basket full of goodies from her mother, which is meant for the mother-in-law. The most joyous part of Karwa Chauth is the Puja held in the evening. A large number of elegantly dressed women gather in a temple or in somebody's house for Puja. Women pray to Goddess Parvati or Gauri Ma for the well being and long life of their husbands. The fast is broken once the moon is sighted and special rituals and prayers marking the day have been offered. At night when the moon appears, women break their fast after offering water to the moon.

The Karwa Chauth Puja and Celebrations :

A Day Before: The pooja preparations start a day in advance. There is huge excitement a day before the festival as women make elaborate preparations to dress up elaborately for the occasion. The Married women buy bangles, bindis, apply mehndi (Hena tattos) on their hand and feets.

Beginning of the Day : Early in the morning they prepare food and have it before sunrise. The morning passes by in other festive activities like decorating hand and feet with heena, decorating the pooja thali and meeting friends and relatives.

The Puja : In the evening, women dress up in special clothes, usually a red or pink sari or 'lehenga-choli' with gold woven 'zari' patterns. New brides often wear their bridal costume. All deck up in jewelry. Decorative 'bindis' on the forehead are a must for all women taking part in this celebration. Fasting women from all over the neighborhood gather in a group and narrate
the story of Karwa Chauth that underscore the significance of Karwa Chauth and sing the Karwachauth song while rotating the thalis containing Baya .
Once the moon rises, the women see its reflection in a thali of water, or through a dupatta or a sieve. They offer water to the moon and seek blessings. They pray for the safety, prosperity and long life of their husbands and sing a
Karwachauth ark song. She is then given a piece of sweet and sip of water by her husband. Hands over the Baya to the monther-in-law or any elderly lady of the household and seeks the blessings. Then comes the much awaited sumptuous dinner. This marks the end of a day long fast

The karwa chauth song
:

"Veero Kudiye Karwada,

Santoshi Mata Vrat Katha :-

Ek budhiya thi aur uskey saat betey the. 6 kamaney valey the ek nikamma tha. Budhiya maa chhaon putron ko rasoi bana khilati thi aur peechhe jo kuchh bachta tha so saatvein ko dey deti thi. Parantu voh bada bhola-bhala tha, man mein kuchh vichar na karta.

Voh jaanchney ko sir dukhney ka bahana kar patla vastra sir par odhkar rasoi ghar mein layt gaya aur kapde mein se sab dekhta raha. Chhahon bhai bhojan karnein aaye, usney dekha maa ne unke liye sundar-sundar aasan bichhaye hain, saat prakar ki rasoi parosi hai. Voh aagrah karke jimati hai. Voh dekhta raha. Chhahon bhai bhojan karke uthey tab maa ne unki jhoothi thaaliyon mein se laddooon ke tukde uthhaye aur laddoo banaya jhoothan saaf kar budhiya maa ne ussey pukara- Utth beta! Chhahon bhai bhojan kar gaye, ab tu hi baki hai utth na! Kab khayega? Voh kahney laga "Maa!Mujhey bhojan nahin karna> Main pardes ja raha hoon." Mata ne kaha, "Kal jata ho to aaj chala jaa." Voh bola " Haan, haan! Aaj hi jaa rahaa hoon" Yeh kahkar voh ghar se nikal gaya. Chaltey samay bahu ki yaad aayi. Voh gaushala mein karaadey thaap rahi thi, jaakar bola—

Doha-Hum jaavein pardes ko aaveyngey kuchh kaal. Tum rahiyo santosh se, dharam apna paal.

Voh boli—"Jaao piya aanand se hamro soch hataaye. Ram bharose hum rahein, Ishwar tumhein sahai.Do nishani aapni dekh dharoon main dheer, sudhi mat hamri bisaariyo raakhiyo man gambhir.

Voh bola "merey pass to kuchh nahin, yeh angoothi hai so ley aur apni kuchh nishani mujhey dey." Voh boli, "Merey pass kya hai? Yeh gobar bhara haath hai". Voh chal diya. Chaltey-chaltey door desh mein pahuncha vahan ek sahukar ki dukaan thi.. Vahan jaakar kehney laga- "Bhai mujhe naukar rakh lo. Vyapaari ki zaroorat thi, bola "rah ja". Ladkey ne poochha- "vetan kya dogey?" Sahukar ne kaha "Kaam dekhkar daam milengey." Sahukar ki naukri mili.Voh saverey ke 7 bajey sey 2 bajey tak naukri bajaney laga. Thorey hi din mein dukaan ka layn-dayn, hisaab-kitaab, grahkon ko maal bechna saara kaam karney lagaa. sahukar ke 7/8 naukar the , veh sabh chakkar khaney lagey. Yeh to bahut hoshiyaar ban gaya. Seth ne bhi kaam dekha aur teen mahiney mein usey aadhey munaafey ka hisseydaar banaa liya. Barah varsh mein naami seth ban gaya aur maalik saara karobaar uspar chhod baahar chala gaya. Ab bahu par kya beeti, suno! Saas sasur usey bahut dukh deney lagey. Saari grahasti ka saara kaam karaa karkey usey lakdi leney jangal bhejtey. Is beech ghar ki rotiyon ke aatey se jo bhoosi nikalti uski roti banaakar rakh di jaati thi aur phootey naariyal ki naarli mein paani. Is prakaar din guzartey rahey. Ek din voh lakdi leney jaa rahi thi ki raastey mein bahut is streeyan Santoshi mata ka vrat kar rahi thi. Vahaan voh khari ho gayi, katha sunney lagi, phir poochney lagi—"Behanon, yeh tum kis devta ka vrat karti ho aur isey karney se kya phal milta hai? Is vrat ke karney ki kya vidhi hai? Yadi tum is vrat ka vidhaan mujhey samjhakar kahogi to main tumhara upkar maanoongi." Tab unmein se ek stree boli—"Suno, yeh Santoshi mata ka vrat hai, Issey nirdhantaa, daridrata ka naash hotaa hai.Lakshmi aati hai. Man ki chintaaon ka bhaar door hota hai. Ghar mein sukh honein sey man ko prasannata aur shanti milti hai. Niputri ko putr miley. Swami baahar gaya ho to shighra aavein. Kunwari kanya ko man chaaha var miley. Rajdwaar mein bahut dinon se mukadama chalta ho to nipat jaavey, kalah-kalesh ki nivritti ho, sukh shanti aavey, ghar mein dhan jamaa ho, paisa-jaidaad ka labh ho, rog door ho jaavey tatha aur bhi jo kuchh bhi man mein kaamna hovey sab is Santoshi mata ki kripa se poori ho javein, is mein sandeh nahin hai." Voh poochhney lagi- "Yeh vrat kaisey kiya jaai, yeh bhi bataao to badi kripa hogi." Voh stree kehney lagi-"Savaa aaney ka gur-channa leyna. Ichha ho to savaa paanch aaney ka leyna yaa savaa rupiye ka bhi sahuliyat ke anusaar leyna, binaa pareshaani shraddha aur prem se jitna bhi ban sakey, savaayaa leyna. Savaa paise se savaa paanch aaney tatha issey bhi zyaada shakti aur bhakti anusaar leyna.. Pratyek shukravaar ko niraahaar reh katha kehna-sunnaa. Iske beech kram tootey nahin, lagaataar niyam paalan karna. sunneyvala koyi na miley to ghee ka deepak jalaa uskey aagey yaa jal ke paatr ko saamney rakh katha kehna parantu niyam na tootey, Jab tak kaatya siddh na ho niyam paalan karna aur kaarya siddh ho jaaney par vrat ka udyaapan karna. Teen maas mein mata phal poora karti hai---is mein yadi kisi ke grah khotey hon, to bhi mata varsh mein ashvay kaarya ko siddh karti hai. Phal siddh honein par hi udyaapan karnaa chaahiye, beech mein nahin. Udyaapan mein adhaayi ser aata ka khaja tatha isi parimaan se kheer tatha channey ka saag karna. Aatth ladkon ko is mein bhojan karaaana. Jahan tak miley devar, jeth, bhai-bandhu, kutumb ke ladkey leyna, na miley to rishteydaaron aur padosion ke ladkey bulaanaa. Unhen bhojan karaakar yathashakti dakshina deykar mata ka niyam poora karna.Us din ghar mein khataayi koyi na khavey. Sabh kehney lagey—"Santoshi mata ka mandir hai." Yeh sun mata ke mandir mein jaa mata ke charnon mein laytnein lagi. Deen ho vinati karney lagi---"Maa, main nipat agyani hoon. Vrat ke niyam kuchh jaanti nahin. Main bahut dukhi hoon. Hey Maata! Jagjanini, mera dukh door kar, main teri sharan mein hoon." Mata ko daya aayi-ek shukravaar beeta ke doosrey shukravaar kohi uskey pati ka patr aaya aur teesrey ko uska bheyja hua paisa aa pahuncha. Yeh dekh jeth-jethani moonh sikurney lagey, itney dinon mein itna paisa aaya, ismein kya baat hai? Ladkey taanein deynein lagey----rupiya aanein lagaa--- ab to kaki ki khaatir badheygi—bhaiyya! patr aavey rupiya aavey to hum sab keliye achha hai. Aisa kehkar aankhon mein aansoo bharkar Santoshi mata ke mandir mein aa Mateshwari ke charnon mein girkar roney lagi—"Maa! mainey tumse paisa kab maanga hai? Mujhey paise se kya kaam hai? Mujhey to apney suhaag se kaam hai.Main to apney swami ke darshan aur seva maangti hoon." Tab Mataji nein prasanna hokar kahaa, "Ja, beti! Tera swami aayega." Yeh sun khushi se ghar mein jaakar kaam karney lagi. Ab Santoshi Maa vichar karney lagi---"Is bholi putri se mainein keh to diya. Par pati aaveyga kahan se?Voh to isey swapna mein bhi yaad nahin karta! Isey yaad dilaney ko mujhey jaana pareyga. Is tarah Mataji us budhiya ke betey ke paas jaa swapn mein prakat ho kehne lagi "Sahukaar ke bete! So raha hai yaa jaagtaa hai?" Voh kehta hai –"Mata! sotaa bhi nahin hoon, aur jaagtaa bhi nahin hoon. Kaho kya aagya hai ?" Maa kehney lagi—" Tera ghar-baar kuchh hai yaa nahin?" Voh bola—"Mera sab kuchh hai Mata! Maa-baap, bahu hai, kya kamee hai?" Maa boli—"Bholey putr! Teri patni ghor kasht uttha rahi hai, tery maa-baap usey bahut traas dey rahey hain. Tu uski sudhi ley" Voh boley—"Haan, Mataji! Yeh to mujhey maaloom hai parantu jaaoon kaisey? Pardes ki baat, leyn-deyn ka koi hisaab nahin, koi jaaney ka raastaa nazar nahin aata." Maa kehney lagi—"Meri baat maan saverey nahaa-dho kar Santoshi mata ka naam ley, ghee ka deepak jalaa, dandvat kar dukaan par jaa baith! Dekhtey-dekhtey, tera leyn-deyn chuk jaayega. Jamaa maal bik jayega. Saanjh hotey-hotey dhan ka dher lag jaayega. " Ab to voh saverey bahut jaldi utth bhai-bandhuon se apney sapney ki baat kehta hai. Voh sabh kehnein lagey kahin sapney bhi sach hotey hain? Ek budha bola—“Meri baat maan, is tarah saanch jhooth karney ke badley devtaa ney jaisa kaha hai vaisa karney mein jaata kya hai? Ab budhey ki baat maan, nahaa-dhokar Santoshi Mata ko dandvat kar, ghee ka deepak jalaa, dukaan par jaa baithta hai.Thodi der mein kya dekhta hai ki denevale rupiya laane lagey , lenevaley hisaab leney lagey. Kothey mein bharey saamaanon ke kharidar nakad daam de souda karney lagey. Shyam tak dhan ka dher lag gaya. Man mein Mata ka naam ley chamatkar dekh prasanna ho ghar ley jaaney ke vaastey gehna, kapda, saamaan khareedney laga. Yahan ke kaam se nipat turant ghar ko ravaanaa hua. Vahan bahu bechaari jangal mein lakdi leney jaati hai, laut-tey vakt Mataji ke mandir par vishraam karti hai. Voh to uska roz ka rukney ka sthaan thehra.Door dhool udti dekh voh Mataji se poochhti hai---Hey Mata! Yeh dhool kaisi ud rahi hai?" Maa kehti hai—" Hey putri! Tera pati aa rahaa hai ab tu aisa kar lakdiyon ke3 bojh banaa ek nadi kinarey rakh doosra mere mandir mein aur teesra apney sar par. Tere pati ko lakdi ka gattha dekh kar moh paida hoga- voh yahaan rukeyga, naashta paani bana khaakar maa se milney jayega, tab tu lakdiyon ka bojh utthakar jaanaa aur beech chowk mein gattha daalkar teen aavaazein zor se lagaana—"Lo, sasuji! Lakdiyon ka gattha lo, bhoosi ki roti do, nariyal ke khopde mein paani do! Aaj kaun mehmaan aaya hai? Maa ki baat sun, bahu "Bahut achha, mataji" kehkar prasanna man ho lakdiyon ke teen gatthey le aayi. Ek nadi tat par, ek mataji ke mandir rakha itney mein ek musafir aa pahuncha. Sookhi lakdi dekh uski ichha hui ki ab yahan nivas karein aur bhojan banaa, vishraam le voh gaon ko gaya. Sabhse prem se mila. Usi samay bahu sir par lakdi ka gattha liye aati hai. Lakdi ka bhaari bojh aangan mein daal zor se aavaaz deti hai---" Lo, sasuji! Lakdi ka gattha lo, bhoosi ki roti do, nariyal ke khopde mein paani do. Aaj kaun aaya hai?" Yeh sun uski saas apney diye huey kashton ko bhulanein hetu kehti hai---"Bahu! Aisa kyoon kehti ho? Tera maalik aayaa hai. Aa baith meetha bhaat khaa bhojan kar kapde, gehney pehen!" Itney mein aavaaz sunkar uska swami baahar aataa hai aur angootthi dekh vyakul ho jataa hai. Maa se poochhta hai—"Maa, yeh kaon hai?" Maa kehti hai , "Beta, yeh teri bahu hai. Aaj 12 varsh ho gaye, tu jab se gayaa hai tab se saarey gaon mein jaanvar ki tarah bhatakti phirti hai. Kaam kaaj ghar ka kuchh karti nahin, chaar samay aakar khaa jaati hai . tujhe dekhkar bhoosi ki roti aur nariyal ke khopde mein paani maangti hai. Voh lajjit ho bola---"Theek hai maa! Main ney usey bhi dekha hai aur tumhein bhi dekha hai. Ab mujhe doosrey ghar ki taali do to usmey rahoon." Tab maa boli "Theek hai beta! Teri jaisi marzi ho kar." Yeh kah taali ka guchha patak diya. Usney leykar doosrey makaan mein, teesri manzil ke ooper ka kamra khol saara saamaan jamaaya. Ek hi din mein vahan raja ke mahal jaisa thaat-baat ban gaya. Ab kya hai? Bahu sukh bhogney lagi. Itney mein agla Shukravaar aaya. Usney apne pati se kaha-"Mujhey Santoshi mata ke vrat ka udyapan karna hai." Uska pati bola –" Bahut achha! Kar, khushi se karley" Turant hi voh udyapan ki taiyyari karney lagee. Jeth ke ladkon ko bhojan ke liye kahney gayi. Usney manzoor kiya, parantu peechhey jethaani apney bachon ko sikhaati hai- "Dekho re! Bhojan ke samay sabh log khatai maangna jissey uska udyapan poora na ho sakey." Ladkey jeemney aaye, kheer bhar pet khayi. Parantu baat yaad aatey hee kahney lagey –"Hamey kuchh khataayi do, kheer khana hummey bhata nahin. Dekhkar aruchi hoti hai." Bahu kahney lagi –" Khataayi kisi ko nahin dee jaayegi. Yeh to Santoshi Mata ka prasad hai." Ladkey utth kharey huey, boley-" Paisa laao." Bholi bahu kuchh jaanti nahin thi, unhe paisey dey diye. Ladkey ussi samay hatth karkey imli laa khaney lagey. Yeh dekh bahu par Mataji ney kope kiya. Raja ke doot uskey pati ko pakad kar ley gaye. Jeth jethani manmaaney khotey vachan kehney lagey-"Sada loot=loot kar dhan ikattha kar laya, raja ke doot pakadkar ley gaye. Ab sabh maaloom par jayega, jab jail ki maar khaayega." Bahu se yeh vachan nahin suney gaye. Roti-roti Mataji ke mandir ko gayi. Kahney lagi – "Mataji! Tumney yeh kya kiya? Hansakar ab kyoon rulaney lagi?" Mata boli –" Putri, tooney udyapan karkey mera vrat bhang kiya hai. Itni jaldi sabh baatein bhuladi?" Voh kehnein lagi –" Mata, bhooli to nahin, na kuchh apraadh kiya hai. Mujhe to ladkon nein bhool mein daal diya. Mainey bhool se hi unhein paisey dey diye—mujhey kshama karo Maa!" Maa boli –" Aisi bhi bhool hoti hai?" Voh boli- "Maa mujhey maaf kardo main phir tumhara udyapan karoongi." Maa boli- "Ab bhool na karna." Voh kehti hai –"Ab bhool na hogi Maa! Ab batavo veh kaisey aaveingey?" Maa boli- "Jaa putri, tera maalik tujhey raastey mein hi aataa mileyga." Voh nikli raah mein pati aata milaa. Voh poochhti hai-"Tum gaye kahan they?" Tab voh kehney laga –"Itna dhan jo kamaya hai uska tax raja ney maanga tha, voh bharney gaya tha." Voh prassanna ho boli –"Bhala hua, ab ghar ko chalo." Ghar ko gaye , kuchh hi dinon baad phir Shukravaar aaya, voh boli-" Mujhe phir Mataji ka udyapan karna hai." Pati nein kaha "Karo." Voh phir jeth ke ladkon ko bhojan ko kehney gayi. Jethani nein ek do baat sunayi aur sabh ladkon ko sikhaney lagi –"Tum sabh log pehley hi hkattayi maangna." Ladkey kehnein lagey-"Humein kheer khana nahin bhaata, jee bigarta hai, kuchh khattayi khaney ko do."Voh boli- "Khattayi khaney ko nahin mileygi, khana ho to khao." voh brahmanon ke ladkey laakar bhojan karaney lagi. Yatha-shakti dakshina ki jagah ek-ek phal unhein diya. Ismein Santoshi mata prasanna hui. Mata ki kripa hotey hi navein maas usko chandrama ke samaan sundar putr prapt hua. Putr ko leykar pratidin Maata ke mandir ko jaaney lagi. Maa nein socha- "Yeh roz aati hai, aaj main kyon na iskey ghar chaloon iska aasra dekhoon to sahi." Yeh vichaar kar Mata nein bhayaanak roop banaaya. Gur channey sey sana mukh ooper sey soond key samaan honth, uspar makhhiyan bhin-bhina rahee hain. Dehli par paon rakhtey hi uski saas chillaayi- "Dekho re! Koi churail daayin chali aa rahee hai. Ladko isey bhagao, nahin to kisi ko khaa jaayegi." Ladkey darrney lagey aur chillaakar khidkiyaan bund karney lagey.Bahu ek roshandaan mein se dekh rahi thi. Prasannata se pagli ho chillaney lagi -"Aaj meri Mataji merey ghar aayi hai." Yeh keh bacchey ko doodh peeney se hataati hai. Itnein mein to saas ka krodh phoot paraa. Boli-"Raand!Dekhkar kyoon utaavli hui hai? Bacchey ko patak diya. Itnein mein Maa ke prataap sey jahan dekho vahaan ladkey hi ladkey nazar aaney lagey. Voh boli -"Maa, main jiska vrat karti hoon yeh vahi Santoshi mata hai." Itna kehkar jhatsey saarey ghar key kivar khol deti hai. Sabhney Mataji ke charan pakad liye aur vinti karney lagey -"Hey Mata! Hum moorakh hain, paapi hain, tumhaarey vrat ki vidhi hum nahin jaantey, tumhara vrat bhang kar humnein bahut apraadh kiya hai. Hey Jagatmata! Hamara apraadh kshama karo." Is prakar Mata prasanna hui. Bahu ko jaisa phal diya vaisa Mata sabh ko dey. Jo padhey uskey manorath poorna hon.
